Tick Season is Here – Protect Your Pets!

You are here: Home / Latest News / Belmont / Tick Season is Here – Protect Your Pets!

As the weather warms up, ticks are out in full force, and our furry friends are at risk! These tiny parasites can cause paralysis tick toxicity, which can be life-threatening to pets.

Signs of Tick Paralysis:

• Weakness or wobbliness, especially in the back legs

• Difficulty breathing or changes in bark/meow

• Loss of appetite or vomiting

Prevention is Key:

• Use tick prevention treatments such as yearly injection, oral medications, spot-on or collars (ask us about the best option for your pet!).

• Regularly check your pets for ticks, especially after outdoor adventures. Pay close attention to the head, neck, chest, and under the legs.

• Keep grass short and bushes trimmed in your yard to reduce tick habitats.

If you find a tick or notice any of the signs above, contact us immediately! Early treatment can save lives.

Call us at Belmont 02 4945 9677 and Charlestown 02 4943 6066 or book online at https://www.lakevet.com.au to discuss the best prevention plan for your pet or schedule a tick check.

Let’s keep our pets happy, healthy, and tick-free this season! 🐶🐱
