Exciting New Arthritis drug for Cats

You are here: Home / Latest News / Belmont / Exciting New Arthritis drug for Cats

A new treatment option has become available to help cats with Osteoarthritis.

Solensia helps by blocking the Nerve growth factor (NGF) pain pathway.

Solensia is the once-monthly injection avoiding daily medication being given at home, for the control of feline osteoarthritis (OA) pain. It can be used in conjunction with other treatments, results can lead to cats to be more engaged, more mobiltity- jumping.

Osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease causes pain, loss of mobility and decreased quality of life.

The first signs your cat may be starting to develop Osteoarthritis is inability to groom/poor coat condition, hiding or withdrawn.

Thankfully there are many options available to help your pet maintain better quality of life and enjoy life again. Prevention is also important and therefore it is vital to keep your pet slim and trim. Extra weight causes more strain on joints and overweight animals are less active which leads to muscle wastage.
